President Goodluck Jonathan is currently in Kenya, where he is to participate in the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council meeting.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Nurudeen Mohammed and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd)

Nigerian Tribune gathered that current terrorism engineered by the Boko Haram sect, as well as the insurgency going on in Mali, are to top discussions today.

The council is expected to receive and consider the report of the chairperson of the African Union Commission on Terrorism and Violent Extremism in Africa.

Deliberations at the meeting and the adoption of the African chairperson’s report are also expected to lead to more collaborative actions by Nigeria and other African countries, to rid the continent of acts of terrorism and violent extremism.

Also on the agenda is the implementation of the operational conclusions of the fifth meeting of heads of intelligence and security services of Sahel-Saharan countries, held on May 19 and 20 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
