Reports reaching the news desk of CEOAFRICA.com from Cairo in Egypt confirmed that the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Mohammed Badie, 70, has been arrested.

He was believed to have been the brain behind incessant protests which has left almost 900 people, including more than 100 police and soldiers dead.

Sources disclosed that Mr. Badie will face trial for the killing of eight anti-Brotherhood protesters last June. He was detained in a flat at Nasr City in north-east Cairo.

Mr. Badie’s arrest came few days after his son, Ammar, 38 was shot dead during a protest in Ramses Square.
