June 12th: Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan urges Christians to be alert and security conscious

Thursday- 10th June, 2021: The Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, His Grace Most Rev Dr. Leke Abegunrin, on Wednesday warned the Christians and Catholic faithfuls to be alert and security conscious on the 11th and 12th June, (Friday and Saturday) respectively.

Rev Abegunrin gave the warning in the chancery circular, titled “Directive on Caution and Security Consciousness,” which was made available to CEOAFRICA.

According to him, the warning is important following the present situation of the Nigeria.

The Archbishop in the circular urged the Catholic faithfuls of their movement, gatherings, groupings or meeting.

He warned that all the meetings or gatherings on the above stated dates should be suspended or re-arranged.

He also advised that the usual day of sanctification for the priests which is often celebrated on the feast of the sacred heart of Jesus and which falls on Friday should be done privately and in communities, stress that there should not be coming together on Diocesans or Deanery levels.

In addition, the Archbishop urged the parish priests to sensitize their parishioners on the need to stay safe from violence apart from COVID-19.
