World Health Organization Puts Number of those Displaced By Sudan Floods at 300,000

According to World Health Organization (WHO), More than 300,000 Sudanese were displaced by floods that occurred across the country in August, CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.

The report also stated that more than 50 people died in the floods disaster described as the worst Sudan ever experienced in 25 years.

Furthermore, the WHO warned that the affected areas are at risk of malaria and cholera outbreak since many latrines collapsed during the process.

However, United Nations has expressed that it would come to the aid of the people affected by the floods, although the body have been severely underfunded. This was said by the head of the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan, Mr. Mark Cutts.
