See faces of two suspected kidnappers who killed man while attempting to abduct his son in Adamawa

WEDNESDAY- 1st September, 2021: The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two vigilantes-turned kidnappers for killing a man in Song Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, Abdulrahaman Alhaji Yakubu, a 30 years old father of 5 and Suleiman Lawan, 35, father of 10, both of Murke village in Song LGA, are currently under investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Headquarters, Yola.

It was gathered that the kidnappers and three others at large, invaded the home of the victim near Gombedeked along Dumne road on 5th August, 2021, and attempted to abduct his son.

While the kidnappers were trying to whisk the young man away, his elder brother confronted them. To scare him off the kidnappers started shooting.

Their father who was coming of his bedroom was hit on the stomach by a stray bullet as a result of which he died on the spot.

It was further learnt that when neighbours heard the sounds of the gunshots, they came out from their houses and pursued the criminals, rescuing the victim.

The following morning, local vigilantes traced the footsteps of the suspects right from the scene of the crime to their various houses where they were apprehended.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje,who confirmed the incident said that the suspects were in police custody, and would be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
