Adamawa: Gov Candidate Slumps During Debate

The gubernatorial candidate of KOWA Party in Adamawa State for the scheduled October 11 by-election, Alhaji Dahiru Waziri, slumped on Wednesday in Yola at a live television debate programme.

Waziri is one of the three gubernatorial candidates. Other are, Alhaji Adhmadu Umaru Fintiri of the PDP and Dr Amos Sunday of the PPN.

After the three aspirants were introduced and had remained standing to commence the debate, Waziri slumped but was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.

According to sources from his party, Waziri, who is a diabetic patient, has been suffering from low sugar. However, it took the prompt intervention of the Gotel TV crew to stabilise him before he was rushed to the medical centre.

The debate was a private initiative of TC Consult Services meant for candidates of the governorship election in the state, preparatory to the October 11 election.

According to the organisers, it was aimed at showcasing the candidates for the governorship seat in Adamawa State.

The acting governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, urged the organisers and the television stations to reschedule the programme.
