Professor Kayode Adebowale emerges UI's 13th Vice chancellor

The Chairman, Governing council of the University of Ibadan, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has announced Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale as the 13th Vice-Chancellor.

Oyegun made the announcement around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Adebowale defeated the incumbent acting vice-chancellor, Adebola Ekanola, and 14 others in a keenly contested process at the Senate chambers of the institution.

Adebowale is a professor of chemistry.

He was first appointed as the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) by Council in June 2018.

He was re-appointed for a second term in June 2020.

The University of Ibadan is Nigeria’s first university, founded in 1948.
