From Democratic Republic of Congo, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the ongoing clash between the Rebel and Government forces in Goma has claimed a lot of casualties as medical services are overwhelmed by the number of wounds.

According to a medical doctor working at the territory where the clash is going on, Isaac Warwanamiza, the estimated number of dead as at Sunday morning is 82, conscious of the fact that the centre is not the only place where casualties are being attended to.

In his statement, he said, “I cannot really count them because sometimes you think you have got one person, but then you find four arms, or five hands and you realize you are looking at a mixture of different people’s body parts."

Fighting between the government army and M23 rebels raged overnight Saturday through Sunday at Mujoga, about 17 kilometers north of Goma.

Furthermore, the doctor claimed he has treated close to 54 wounded government troops and rebels, adding that the clashes at the weekend were the worst since Wednesday.

However, M23 rebels controls a narrow strip of the territory along the Rwanda and Uganda borders about few kilometers with just few soldiers, as UN accused Rwanda of reinforcing the rebel. The government of Rwanda has denied this allegation.
