Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has been criticized by the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State over his statement that the outgoing Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi losing in the election was a mystery. Reacting to the statement, the party through its State Publicity Secretary, Kola Oluwawole, in a statement on Monday in Ado-Ekiti described the statement as “a product of stomach honorarium.”

The PDP also alleged that Soyinka was brought to Ekiti for the inauguration of the new Government House in a chartered helicopter paid from the coffers of the state.

The party, stated that the  incumbent governor lost an election in all the 16 local government areas in the state and won in less than 20 wards out of 177 wards in the state.

The Ekiti PDP, however expressed surprise as to why Soyinka suddenly turned himself to Fayemi’s spokesperson.

Yesterday, it was reported that the nobel laureate while speaking at the inauguration of the new Government House known as ‘Ayoba Villa’ in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, described the loss of the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in the June 21 governorship election as a mystery.

Soyinka who was surprised at the outcome of the election, however advised the leadership of the APC to unravel the mystery, just as he praised the outgoing governor for his several programmes and legacy projects.

He urged Fayemi’s successor to continue on the path of development.
