Chrisland University Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Babalola at NIPRD

Chrisland University partners NIPRD on Drug Production

Chrisland University, Abeokuta Ogun State and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Researchers and Development, NIPRD have concluded plan to collaborate on drug production.

The Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta Ogun State, a Professor of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacokinetics. Chinedum Peace Babalola, disclosed this during a tour of the NIPRD facility in Abuja, on the invitation of the Director General of NIPRD Dr Obi Adigwe.

She expressed delight on improvements seen in NIPRD, new facilities, new buildings, new Laboratory and state of the art equipment in comparison with over ten years of her last visit.

Babalola applauded the NIPRD, stating that they have gotten hold of grants she termed "institutional grants" Nationally and internationally that can further enhance drug production like "NIPRISONE" a drug for treating and managing sickle cell.

The AU laureate was also excited over the registration of products as 3 products formulations were coming up that needed to be registered and listed with NAFDAC.

Also speaking at the tour, Martins Emeje a professor of pharmaceutical technology and Nanomedicine, NIPRD, said the collaboration is going to lead to innovative services and products, products from indigenous raw material  taking care of health issues in the environment and the global space .

He further stated that Chrisland University is a university with expertise in training and education, “we are going to complement each other, they bring education and training, and we bring research and development”.

Emeje noted that they  have three products on COVID-19, with NAFDAC listing numbers and certified by NIPRD regulatory agency, NIPROMUNE, NIPROMUNE+ and Antisetnizer
