Masquerades invades OAU
In the midst of protest at Obafemi Awolowo University after Professor Bamire has been appointed as the varstity new Vice-Chancellor, Indigenes keep protesting as masquarades parade campus premises with incantations.
Recall that CEOAFRICA reported the appointment of Professor Adebayo Bamire as the new OAU Vice-Chancellor last Thursday.
Moreover, CEOAFRICA learnt that Adebayo Bamire, the Professor of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, who defeated 19 other applicants to emerge the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the university is non- indigene of Ile-Ife, which as however led to the protest.
Professor Bamire from Oyan in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State has however gotten the support of social media users as OAU VC trends on Twitter since his appointment.
Meanwhile, many has reacted and injected their views as @chaovilan tweeted, “We complain of racism but we are guilty of tribalism and fanatical ethnocentrism. If we always wanna be placed first in our own affairs we must accept that whites will always place themselves first. OAU VC 's should be occupied based on merit and not parochial tribalism.”
@Theoladeledada,”OAU, the headquarter of ASUU strike has also turned to International HQ of ritualist. How can a shameless citizen be carrying sacrifice all because he wants to become OAU VC. If that man is your father, tell him he has no shame.”
The Ile-Ife citizen, Professor Adedoyin came 9th, which is far from emerging the position as Vice-Chancellor plays the son of the soil card.
According to reactions, some guessed that supposed used charm could not increase the score as the traditionalists protest to redeem their names in public.
@9jalleadeofficial, “Ile Ife indigenes go on occultic means because a non indigene has been appointed as the OAU VC . If this can happen with the citizen to join force against bad government in Nigeria would have being better.”
@Another_Emma, “The current drama playing in Ife around the appointment of a non-indigene as the Vice Chancellor is absolutely unnecessary. Breathe more of barbarism and unsound reasoning on the part of the protesting Ife indigenes. OAU VC's seat is not an ethic-determined position. That's it.
Leave OAU VC first, masquerade dae wear trainers and socks.. Ara orun sef don upgrad.”
Moreover, Professor of Agricultural Economics, Adebayo Simeon Bamire of faculty of Agriculture has been said that his tenure will commence on the 7th of June, 2022.
