Inuwa Abdulkadir, Dismissed Nigerian Minister for Youths Development
Following the dismissal of Youth Development Minister, Inuwa Abdul-Kadir by President Jonathan, panic has gripped the camp of other ministers in the cabinet, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.
It was gathered from sources that the President had invited some of them for what was called “consultations”. Most of them, who were out of town, had to make early return to Abuja in order to answer the call of Mr. President.
The ministers were kept on their toes after a mid-term assessment of their performance, as presidency now pays attention to the performance benchmark set for all of them.
A source said that the president is not ready to grant permission for any local or foreign trip, unless it is necessary.
As at the time of compiling this report, what the President discussed with those invited was unknown.
Meanwhile, the Presidency was said to have queried the Chairman of the National Population Commission for a statement of causing disaffection.
According to our findings, the government was unhappy with the interview he granted some newspapers, where he was quoted to have said that the last census figures during ex-President Obasanjo’s era were cooked up.
Sources said the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been mandated to issue a query so as to ascertain whether he said what was ascribed to him or not.
However, the ex-minister for youth development, Inuwa Abdul-Kadir said he has learnt a lot during his short tenure in office. According to a release by his Assistant Director (Press), Olusola Abiola, the Minister expressed his appreciation for the opportunities to serve humanity. “Abdul-Kadir has expressed his deep appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan for the opportunity to serve the nation affording him the privilege to contribute his own quota to the development of about 60 million youths across the federation.
“He disclosed that his short stint in the ministry has enabled him appreciate greatly the numerous challenges facing the Nigerian youth.
“He said he has learnt a lot from the seasoned administrators and technocrats in the course of the discharge of his duties.
“He used the opportunity to advise the officials of the ministry to continue to discharge their responsibilities in a manner that will continue to advance the policies of the Federal Government for the sector.
“He told the gathering, which includes the Directors-General of the National Youth Service Corps and the Citizens & Leadership Training Centre, to always be steadfast as public servants in their service to the nation.
The statement was issued after the ex-minister handed over to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Tunji Olaopa.
“However, in separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Tunji Olaopa, the Directors-General of NYSC and C<C extolled the virtues of the former Minister and thanked him for his contributions to the development of the Ministry.” Olusola Abiola said.
Inuwa Abdul-Kadir is believed to have been fired for his closeness with Aminu Tambuwal, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Governor Wamakko of Sokoto state.
