CJN Ariwoola approves 62 lawyers as SAN

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), has approved the elevation of 62 legal practitioners to the rank of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN)
The LPPC, under the leadership of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, approved the conferment of the rank on the lawyers at the end of its 154th plenary session on Thursday.
The Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and LPPC secretary, Hajo Bello disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.
The new appointees for 2022 are in order of seniority at the bar. Among the 62 are two prosecutors for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The meeting further approved new guidelines for conferring the rank of SAN and matters pertaining to the rank to guide future appointment.
Bello noted that the new appointees will be sworn in November 21st.
