
The Operatives of the Kaduna State Police command has rescued a 65-year-old man locked up for 20 years in a room in the state.
The man who was identified as Ibrahim Ado was found during a visit to a house for routine check by the Environmental Health Officers of Kaduna North local government area.
The door to the room where the man was held captive was forced opened by the officers and the man seen naked on the floor.
An eyewitness said; “The environmental officers visited the house this yesterday morning to check some beverages stored in the house but discovered a man locked in a room.”
The Environment Officers alerted the Magajin Gari Divisional Police Office, who went to the scene with the Divisional Police Officer to rescue the man from the room.
The State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been locked in the room for the past 20 years where he urinates and defecates.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Yekini Ayoku, who spoke with Newsmen on Thursday said investigations are ongoing to apprehend the people involved in the gruesome and inhumane act.
The victim Ibrahim Ado is currently receiving treatment in a medical facility within Kaduna metropolis where medical personnel are battling to access his case for proper treatment.
