Apostle Suleman: Police withdraws DPO over controversial death of suspect

The Edo State Police Command, has ordered the withdrawal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Auchi Division, CSP Ayodele Suleiman, over the controversial death of one of the suspects that attacked the General overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
CEOAFRICA had reported that unidentified gunmen had attacked Suleman’s convoy in Auchi, on Friday evening, killing seven persons, including police escorts
It was reported that one of the suspects, who was reportedly arrested alive and handed over to the police, was killed by an officer.
The Cleric had accused the police of trying to cover up the incident by killing the only suspect.
Suleman further stressed that the incident was not a kidnap but an assassination attempt on him.
However, the outgoing police commissioner in the State, AIG Abutu Yaro on Saturday, ordered the immediate withdrawal of the DPO for debriefing.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Police spokesperson, Iwegbu Jennifer.
She said; “As part of the measures of the Command concerning the circumstances that led to the death of one of the surviving members of the monstrous gang that attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleiman, General overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, the outgoing CP now AIG Abutu Yaro has ordered the withdrawal of CSP Ayodele Suleiman, DPO Auchi for debriefing at the State Headquarters with immediate effect.’’
“Meanwhile, members of the Public are urged to remain calm and patient as no stone would be left unturned to unearth the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
