The President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh, has led thousands of pharmacists, who attended the 95th annual national conference, on a health walk, as part of the activities marking the conference.

The road walk took off from the venue of the conference, Crispan Suites and Events Centre, Opposite Air-force Base and landed at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, where the train was received by the First lady of Plateau state, Mrs Regina Bako Lalong.
During the reception of the pharmacists, the First Lady, who could not hold back her excitement for hosting the men and women of the medicine across the nation, welcomed them warmly, assuring them that the state is safe and secure for everyone, contrary to the report they may have heard.
Speaking through the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Rebecca Sambo, the governor’s wife expressed her admiration for the Pharmacy profession, while commending the ladies who have taken to the career path.

“Plateau is the Home of Peace and Tourism. I’m sure that you have been here for some days and see that the place is peaceful and accommodating. The weather, the food and everything here is accommodative. Just eat everything, as much as you can, don’t be scared of developing stomach upset.’’
“I am very happy excited seeing the number of ladies in the profession. I hope that more young girls will take up the profession, even more than other professions,” she said.
Speaking on the First Lady’s vision for young girls, the Commissioner added that Her Excellency has Sweet Foundation that train and care for the girl child in order to make them attain greater heights; Mrs Sambo also noted that her daughter is a student of Pharmacy at the University of Jos.

In his response, the President of the PSN, who led the team, together with his wife, who is also a pharmacist, thanked the governor’s wife for the warm reception and welcome, as well as the show of hospitality by the residents of the Tin City.

He also presented an award of appreciation to the First Lady, on behalf of other pharmacists, in addition to other gift items; the event occurred on the first day of the conference, Monday, October 31, 2022, at 4:00 pm.
