Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe State has continued to harvest into its fold new members from the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The latest entrant is the Gombe Local Government Auditor of the PDP, Hon. Mahmud Mohammed Wafa, who has pledged his loyalty to the NNPP which has witnessed steady growth in membership recently.
Just a fortnight ago, a former state lawmaker and a Local Government Party Chairman dumped the PDP for the NNPP among many other top-notch members which has been published earlier.
Daily Independent gathered that the NNPP now has no fewer than three members in the State House of Assembly.
Mahmud Mohammed Wafa joined the NNPP on Tuesday, January 3, exactly the day the PDP flagged off its campaign for the 2023 election in the Balanga Local Government Area of the state.
He disclosed his defection while speaking with journalists after his meeting with the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki in his Abuja residence.
He said, he joined the NNPP to rescue the state from the APC’s led government that has downgraded the state to a hopeless situation.
According to him, “Looking at the present debauched situation, we need to put head together to rescue the state from the APC led-government and the PDP has been in disarray and confusion since its primary election in March last year, so it can’t give us the leadership we want.
