2023: What happened when Peter Obi visited Alaba Market in Lagos today

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi received a grand reception at the Alaba International Market, Ojo area of Lagos on Saturday.
As he embarked on a road show as he was leaving the market with thousands of traders following him and chanting ‘Obi, Obi, Obi.’

He drove from Alaba Market to the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), venue of his presidential rally in Lagos. There was a massive gridlock as he made his way out of the market with huge crowd following him.
He waved to the crowd cheering him. He was satisfied that he has achieved his purpose.
Speaking at the market, Obi appealed to Nigerians to shun violence during the presidential election.
“As we go into the final stretch for the 2023 elections, I call on all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation or tendency, to eschew violence.

“I condemn any form of violence and political thuggery; and especially the incessant attacks on my Obidient supporters.
“I call on the security forces nationwide to protect those exercising their fundamental rights of free speech and assembly. Our civic space must not shrink further,” he said.
