Voting has commenced in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s polling boot awaits electoral materials and electoral officers.
At ward 11 unit 15, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, the election commenced as early as 08.40, so also at ward 11, unit 16 of the same local government.
At the two units within the African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko, voters were seen in their large number with security operatives manning the units.
In unit 15, Akanbi Semiu, who was the first to be accredited, expressed worry as he had to wait for almost 10 minutes before he wqs recognised by the BIVAS machine.
Akanni, who accreditation failed through the voter card, was later captured through his facial recognition through the same BVAS machine
At unit 16, some of the voters were already casting their vote with a minimum of one minute for accreditation.
At Obasanjo’s polling unit in Olusomi compound, Sokori Abeokuta, no electoral officer was on ground as at 9am.
When Independent visited the unit 22 of ward 11, Abeokuta North, only a police officer and voters were noticed at the center.
