The Cross River State Inter-Party Advisory Council has stated that the candidates that emerged during the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in the state did not express the yearning of the people.

According to IPAC, the PDP did not comply with its guidelines and the provisions of the 2010 Electoral Act in the process that saw candidates emerged for the 2015 general elections.

Addressing a press conference in Calabar at the weekend, the state chairman of the IPAC, Mr Goddie Akpama, said its leadership watched in dismay and utmost disbelief the “predatory assumption of their despotic and arbitrary abuse of the rule of law“

Akpama said a cue ought to be taken from the leadership of the All Progressives Congress who conducted a rancour free primary election, an example of how democracy should be.

Akpama said,“The brazen charade, the perpetuation of illegality, the utmost abuse of (its) own set rules and dictatorial assumption of some political parties subscribers to the Political Parties Code of Conduct 2013 especially the Peoples Democratic Party is most unfortunate, unnecessary and is hereby condemned.“
