Sokoto State Deputy Governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari, Sunday said what happened in Sokoto at the PDP governorship primary last week was not an election but a plan by some evil few to destroy the party in the state.

Addressing thousands of supporters who gave him a rousing welcome shortly after his return from Abuja Sunday, Shagari stated that there was no governorship primary election in the state but assured that he remained unshaken despite his recent setback at the governorship primary. He therefore urged his supporter to be calm as was not perturbed by the outcome of the outcome of the primaries in the PDP in the state.
