The gale of defections that has become a recurring decimal in the House of Representatives since last year continued on Tuesday as both the ruling Peopleā€™s Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) lost in equal measure.

Five members of the APC, kow-towing to the political reality in their states, Ogun, left the party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The five lawmakers followed in the steps of former governor of Ogun, Olusegun Osoba. They are: Tunde Ogundara, Adeyemi Adekunle, Olumide Babatunde Osoba, Abiodun Balogun and Taofeek Braimoh.

The lawmakers in a letter addressed to Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, which he read at plenary, attributedĀ their defection to the crisis in the Ogun State chapter of the APC.

Citing Section 68 (g) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, they said they decided to leave the APC.

Equally, four members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the APC, while one moved to the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).
