EBONYI GOVERNMENT PROMOTES YOUTH EMPLOYMENT, VOLUNTEERS TO TRAIN 2,600 IN AGRICULTURE

Ebonyi State government has disclosed that it will in its Agricultural Volunteer Scheme incorporate more than 2,600 youths.

CEOAFRICA news desk gathered from the statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kelechi Mbam that the Agricultural programme which seeks to engage unemployed graduates and school certificate holders is coordinated by the Ebonyi State Ministry of Agriculture and the Director of Attitudinal Change.

According to Mr. Kelechi Mbam, the youths are to be trained and empowered to engage in various agricultural undertakings which include farming, poultry and piggery, as well be equipped them with facilities, including seedlings and funds to start their own business enterprise after the training.

The Director also highlighted the need to wage war against unemployment by embracing agriculture to earn living instead of waiting for the government employment, stressing that the state has abundance of farmlands to cultivate.

He however encouraged that youths should be self reliant in order to be objective in opinion, protect ones integrity and reduce crime in the society.
