Following days of serious clashes between government forces in Democratic Republic of Congo and M23 rebel, the group has said it will stop fighting and would pull back from the region.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the M23 group had already pulled back 5km from the frontline.

According to rebel leader Bertrand Bisimwa, the reason why the group is pulling back was to allow an independent investigation into how shells fell over the border in Rwanda on Thursday.

It would be recalled that Rwandan government accused Congo forces of firing into its territory, but the forces shifted the blame on the M23 rebel.

Meanwhile DR Congo and the UN also accused Rwanda of backing the M23, although the latter denied the allegation.
