Dignitaries from all walks of life gathered at the Complete Christian Life International Church on Saturday 9th December, 2023 in an atmosphere filled with glamour as Oluwakemi Adeola and Olushola Babawale, son of the Acting Registrar, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Mr Nathaniel Adeolu Jolaiya, tie the knots of their conjugal love.

The Wedding ceremony began with the Christian rites of Holy Matrimony which was done by the officiating minister Revd. Dr. Dele Oluwagbemiro.

In attendance were; the Provost, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr Adekoya. O Owosibo, Deputy Provost, friends and family, colleagues and well-wishers.

Revd. Dr. Dele Oluwagbemiro, during his sermon advised the couple to embrace God and make the Holy Bible their guide in the course of their marital life. He further expressed his fear for how many marriages are not standing today because couples do not put God first in whatever they do.

The officiating minister in his words; “Many marriages are not standing today because we are not putting God first, in whatever we do’’. He further buttressed that many times, the youths of today profess to being matured, stating words like; 'I am old enough to know what is good for me' they do not put God first in whatever they want to do. Also, the minister went ahead to say that the youths of today lack knowledge; and for marriage to be successful, you must have the owner’s manual which is the Bible, the word of God.

Marriages of today are based on what they see on social media, what they see from their friends, they have also based their marriage on what society, parents and friends tells them and this has resulted in their failing marriages. As a result, the minister reiterated that there is the need to pattern our life according to the word of God. When we do that, we grow in knowledge, because the Bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge… so it is lack of knowledge that is affecting and destroying many homes today. The cleric however encouraged that many homes and marriages should be patterned according to the owner’s manual with  readiness to obey and never fail.

He advised the couple to uphold this quote  “a successful marriage is a relationship between two continuous forgiver.

The couple were joined together in accordance with the traditional and cultural way of marriage in the Yoruba land with members from the families of the young couple dancing and rejoicing in the joy of the moment.

In an interview with CEOAFRICA, the groom’s Father Mr. Nathaniel Adeolu Jolaiya who is also the acting Registrar of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, expressed his joy on the occasion of his son’s marriage and further advised the couple to have a listening ear for each other.

In his words when he was asked on how he felt on getting his son married, he said; “ I’m highly elated. I am happy. Actually, this is not my first time but this one is my first child and my son, the one I did last year was for my daughter, Dr. Titi (nee Jolaiya)”.

He further advised the couple to listen to each other always, he said; “when couples of forty, thirty years were asked for what is their secret, the husband pointed at the wife that whatever she says I do, that is my secret. That is to say, He (Olushola) is to learn to listen to his wife (Oluwakemi), not that he will do everything she says but at least he must listen to what she says, if there is going to be any contrary or variant then it will come after. There should be unity and mutual understanding for them to enjoy their home”.

When the Bride’s father, Mr. Adeyemi Aderibigbe was asked on how he felt, he said; “I am very happy, today is the day we have been waiting for and it comes in a better way. I appreciate God for what he has done in my life and in the family. He further said, “to the newly wedded now, I can say they should look up to God and let God be in their marriage so that they will be able to make it up. They should continue to pray, because marriage is not an easy task. They should continue to pray to God so that God will show them the way and be with them, that is all what I can give them because marriage is not an easy thing that they can rush into and come back.

Both mothers of the groom and the bride were filled with joy and showered words of prayers to God and for the newly wedded as they spoke to CEOAFRICA correspondent.
