WTO DG, AfDB President, Chrisland VC, others to attend APTF office inauguration in Kigali

The Director General of World Trade Organization, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President of African Development Bank, Dr.Akinwumi Adesina, Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Ogun State, Nigeria , Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola are among world leaders who will be attending the office inauguration of the African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation (APTF)which is scheduled to hold on 18th December, 2023 at KG 9 Avenue, Nyarutarma, Gasabo, Kigali, Rwanda.

CEOAfrica gathered that, Professor Peace Babalola, the current Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University , Ogun State , Nigeria, will be gracing the inauguration alongside other eminent advisory council of the foundation.

Peace Babalola, a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics is the first female professor of pharmacy in the university of Ibadan (UI), Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS) , the second female Professor in the Fellow of African Academy of Science (FAAS)and she is an African Union Laurate .

Prof Chinedum has gained both national and international recognition in the world of pharmacy since 1984 till date hence, her appointment to serve in different capacities across the world.

The APTF is an independent African agency established in June 2022 by the African Development Bank. It aims to eliminate technology access barriers in African public and private sectors. Its target is assisting local pharmaceutical firms in acquiring various technological inputs to bolster production capacity, including patents and manufacturing know-how. The Foundation also aim to enhance the ability of local companies and research institutes to generate new knowledge in the domestic pharmaceutical sector with priorities on technologies, products, and processes that address diseases prevalent in Africa and contribute to the health and wellbeing of its people.

The inauguration is set to also feature a stronger European-African partnership in Pharmaceutical Production, signing and announcement of the Memorandum of Understanding between APTF and the European Investment Bank, Official launch of the APTF website and calendar of events, Press conference and a tour of the APTF office and premises.
