Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has charged the Super Eagles to beat host nation Cote d’Ivoire in the second Group A game of the ongoing AFCON 2023.

Ambode gave this charge when he visited the camp of the Super Eagles after their dinner on Wednesday evening.

He said, “I just want to wish you well. We still have great support for everyone, irrespective of the result. We are still happy to be Nigerians, and we play as Nigeria. My greatest wish is to be able to beat the host nation tomorrow.”

Also present at the dinner were the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and Nigerian football legend Jay Jay Okocha.

The Super Eagles face a make-or-break game after their disappointing 1-1 draw in their opening AFCON 2023 game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

The game will take place at the Alassane Outtara Stadium in Abidjan at 6 p.m. (Nigerian time).
