The Niger State Government has summoned the class teacher and headmaster of Kassim Primary School in Agaie Local Government Area over a viral video showing a pupil using what has been described as “vulgar language” during a debate.

In the viral video, the pupil, identified as Abdulkabir Abdulkadir, argued against the motion advocating for mandatory voting in Nigeria.

He expressed concerns about the current state of politics in the country and criticized President Bola Tinubu, stating that his presidency has led to hardship for the people.

Reacting to the video, Hadiza Mohammed, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Niger State, condemned the choice of words used by the pupil.

She described the content of the video as “disturbing” and stated that the pupil appeared to have been coached to use violent and vulgar language in his presentation.

The ministry has invited the class teacher and headmaster for cautioning, stating the need for students to refrain from using violent language, especially as the pupil is a minor.
