NAIP 27th Annual Conference begins with cocktail, as National Chairman Onuegbu assures exciting 2024 conference

The anticipated 27th Annual Conference of the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) tagged “Oluyole 2024” began yesterday, June 4, 2024, at Ibadan Recreation Club, Ibadan, Oyo State.

With arrival of guests, participants and dignitaries at the event, the local organising committee hosted all participants to a cocktail in the evening under an atmosphere filled with music.

The guests were treated to sumptuous meals and conference souvenirs distributed, the event of the first day spoke volumes of the perfect conference to anticipate for the year.

While addressing the guests and members, the National Chairman of the Association, Pharm. Ken Onuegbu appreciated God for the journey mercies of all and sundry and the attendees, assuring that the conference was going to be a memorable one for everyone with the solidified lined-up of events.

“I want to assure you that the association has assembled a team of medical experts to attend to as many people as possible. We have antimalaria, antihypertension and different drugs for different diseases,” he said.

According to him, the second day of the conference will be a health walk, which will start from signature hotel to challenge road culminating in medical outreach at Oluyole, adding that health materials, energy boosters, water for the health walk.

The chairman also announced that over 10 million worth free drugs will be distributed at the medical outreach scheduled to hold on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, as he called for the assistance, and cooperation of all and sundry to make the conference a real success.

Thursday, June 6, is the opening ceremony of the conference, with plenary sessions and social night later that day. The Keynote Address speaker for the opening ceremony is Prof. Oludele Adelanwa Itiola of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan. There will be two plenary sessions at the conference.

The first plenary session will be delivered by the Director, Narcotics and Control Substances, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Pharm. (Mrs) Yedunni Adenuga, on the topic “Control Substances and the Promotion of Access to Medicine: the Meeting Point”. There will also be panellists that will discuss the topic which will be led by Prof. Oluwatoyin A. Odeku.

The second plenary session will focus on “Pharmaceutical sales representatives today: The good, bad and the ugly”, which will also have panel discussion and the conference will be closed with a dinner.

This year’s conference is themed “The role of digital technologies and innovations in advancing universal health coverage: the Nigeria industrial pharmacy perspective”.
