Gov Uzodinma appoints Enugu State PSN Chairman as Commissioner for Health

Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma has appointed the current Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Enugu State Chapter, Prof. (Pharmacist). Chukwuemeka Michael Ubaka as the Honourable Commissioner for Health (Secondary and Tertiary).

The exciting news came as a good development for the pharmaceutical industry where there have been a series of to be campaigns on being involved at the table of policymaking.

Recall that CEOAFRICA reported the charge of the President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh, at the recently held 27th Annual Conference of the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), for pharmacists to begin to participate in decision making and became part of policymaking.

“If pharmacists relegate themselves to the background, you will become the lunch that they feed on,” he said at the NAIP conference.

The newly appointed Imo State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ubaka is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management. He has served as Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. He has published extensively and has supervised several Masters and some doctoral students.

Prof. Ubaka is a recipient of several grants and has travelled extensively.
