SDP announce the death of it gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa

The death of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa state, Rev. Hakila Yerima has been announced by the party. He emerges as the party flag bearer in the state on 6th of December 2014

Confirming his death on Tuesday, the state secretary of the party, Dr John Luka, said Yerima died on the 6th of January 2015, exactly one month after declaring him the standard bearer of the party.

Luka noted that Yerima took ill immediately after he won the party's primary and was hospitalized in Gombe state but succumbed to death.

"Our party flag bearer Hakila Yerima was hospitalized for liver related illness before Christmas celebrations in Gombe and he died on 6th of this month.

"Rev. Yerima had on the 27th of December, 2014 written to the party that he is withdrawing his candidacy as the party's flagbearer because of his failing health," Luka said.

Yerima had on the 27th of December 2014 issued a letter of his withdrawal of his candidature to newsmen in Yola.


According to the letter, "l wish to tender my intention to withdraw my candidacy in the forthcoming governorship election due to my falling health. "
