Chrisland University set to release stars, inducts first Nursing Graduands at 6th Convocation

Chrisland University is set to hold its 6th Convocation Ceremony from Sunday, October 27, to Thursday, October 31, 2024.

The five-day event will celebrate the achievements of graduating students, recognize the contributions of the university's leadership, and foster a sense of community through spiritual and academic activities.

The event series will kick off on Sunday, October 27, 2024, with an Evening of Praise and Worship at the University Auditorium. According to Professor Omolaja Osoniyi, Chairman of the Ceremonies and Honours Committee, the program, which will begin at 6:00 PM, is designed to bring students, staff, and guests together for a time of spiritual reflection and celebration. "The event will feature choir performances, prayer sessions, and special musical presentations," he said.

Explaining further, Professor Osoniyi said, "The formal convocation events commence on Monday, October 28, 2024, with the induction of Chrisland University's first set of Nursing Graduands. This milestone event will be held at the University Auditorium.

Following the induction, there will be a Convocation Play and a Graduands Dinner at 4:00 PM, also at the auditorium, providing an opportunity for attendees to celebrate in a more relaxed setting."

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the main convocation day will feature a Convocation Lecture, Awards, and Prizes. The lecture, titled "Nigeria: Strategies for a National Rebirth, with Special Reference to a Triple Helix Innovation," will be delivered by Engr. Umar Bubar.

The event will also include the Award of First Degrees and Presentation of Prizes, recognizing the academic excellence and hard work of the graduates, Professor Osoniyi added.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the university will honor its former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, for her exceptional service and leadership from 2017 to 2024.

The special valedictory program will highlight her tenure, which was marked by strategic growth, academic excellence, and a commitment to holistic development.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Ebenezer Olatunde Farombi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated, "Professor Babalola’s leadership has been characterized by strategic growth, academic excellence, and a commitment to the holistic development of the university community. We are proud to celebrate her contributions and thank her for the remarkable legacy she has built."

The event is expected to draw university officials, students, and notable guests from various sectors.

The convocation celebrations will conclude on Thursday, October 31, 2024, with a Thanksgiving Service at the University Auditorium, led by The Rt. Rev'd. Dr. Emmanuel Oludaisi Adekunie. This service will mark the end of the convocation week, providing an opportunity for the university community to express gratitude and reflect on the achievements of the year.
