The first governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has warned politicians to desist from violence ahead of the February elections.

Adeleke, while speaking during his 60th birthday ceremony in Ede, Osun State, stressed that violence during the elections was a sign of political immaturity.

He said, “The politics of acrimony and vendetta is a disaster to any community, therefore, I enjoin all stakeholders in the oncoming general elections to ensure that we have a fair, free and credible elections.”

In his goodwill message, the Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal, described Adeleke as an embodiment of humility, perseverance and political integrity.

The monarch urged politicians to emulate Adeleke’s love for Ede, noting that the former governor’s legacies were still being enjoyed in the state.

Also speaking at the event, Senator Mudasiru Hussain said that despite the fact that Adeleke lost to him during the Osun-West senatorial district election of 2011, Adeleke was the first to write him a letter of congratulations.

“Politicians need to imbibe this virtue .That experience made me to regard Adeleke as a honest politician,” he said.
