
A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. James Omeh, has died in a flood incident.
Omeh was the Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Gulu, and the Coordinator of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.
The incident occurred on Saturday along the Lapai-Gulu Road after heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in the area.
According to report, a female passenger traveling with him also died.
The cleric was traveling to Gulu around noon when he encountered the collapsed Lapai-Gulu Bridge after passing Duma village.
According to the report, he attempted to turn back but was caught in the rising floodwaters.
Local volunteers and the Sarkin Ruwa helped recover the vehicle and retrieve the bodies of the deceased.
