The United States Mission has advised prospective visa applicants to depend solely on official government platforms for reliable and up-to-date information regarding travel requirements and application procedures.

In a recent advisory, the U.S. Department of State emphasized that visa policies, categories, and eligibility criteria are subject to periodic changes. As a result, applicants are encouraged to verify all information through its official website, http://travel.state.gov, which provides comprehensive guidance for both immigrant and non-immigrant visa processes.

The website offers detailed information on application procedures, required documentation, interview protocols, processing timelines, and country-specific eligibility requirements, making it the primary resource for intending travelers.

In a statement shared on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the mission stressed the importance of consulting verified sources. “Make sure you are getting official information about U.S. visa policies. Please always check official sites for travel guidance,” the statement read.

Officials warned that reliance on unofficial or third-party sources could result in misinformation, application errors, or unnecessary delays. They further noted that visa regulations may change due to administrative updates, security considerations, or diplomatic developments, underscoring the need for applicants to stay informed through official channels.

Applicants are also encouraged to confirm specific requirements with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate before submitting their applications or making travel arrangements.

The advisory is part of ongoing efforts to enhance compliance, minimize errors, and ensure that applicants follow the correct procedures when seeking entry into the United States.
