The Governor of Oyo State, Nigeria, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi has tasked members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities by accessing the various investment funds provided under the programme.
He made the call on Thursday through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, in his address at the swearing-in ceremony of 2,226 corps members registered for the 2013 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course holding at the State NYSC Orientation Camp, Iseyin.
According to Governor Ajimobi, “this synergy has led to the emergence of budding entrepreneurs in the agro-allied small scale industry as over 1,000 ex-corps members have accessed the investment funds provided under the programme.”
The governor advised the corp members not be caught napping as this platform provides a life-time opportunity for you to be your own boss adding that his government would continue to embark on youth-friendly ventures that will encourage them to maximize their potentials.
The Governor urged the youth corps members to let discipline, service with humility be their watchword as they formally commence their mandatory one-year service to the fatherland. He also enjoined them to exhibit high sense of loyalty, dedication to duty and commitment to national ideals.
Commenting on the security situation in the country, Governor Ajimobi remarked that it could be surmounted through the collective vigilance and the committed efforts of all and sundry and charged the corps members to take seriously the security tips contained in the pamphlets which have been packaged for them by the NYSC management.
