OMATEK BOSS GRABS THE FIRST FEMALE HONORARY AWARD

The CEO of Omatek Ventures Engr. Mrs. Florence Seriki, has been conferred a rare honorary Doctor of Science (DSC) degree in Business Administration by Caleb University, at the University’s third convocation, held on Saturday.

Engr. Mrs. Florence, who is the president of computer society of Nigeria, was awarded the outstanding honor on the meticulous approval of the Governing Council and the Senate of the Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State.

CEOAFRICA gathered that Engr. Mrs. Florence, who happens to be the first female to be conferred this award, merited the honor on the virtue of her entrepreneurial accomplishments and exemplary leadership in the country’s private sector.

The authorities of Caleb University also conferred the honor as a tribute to her unique contribution to the domestication and localization of information and communications technology as well as in its adoption in the education sector of the country.

The honor is further in recognition of her visionary and entrepreneurial dynamism in job creation and training of young graduate entrepreneurs in the society, enhancing the achievement of government transformation agenda vis-à-vis economic growth and development of the real sector.

In addition to the above mentioned, the rare gem also ranks high among Champions of the development and pioneering of local content and manufacturing in the ICT sector in Africa, being the first to open indigenous Computer Assembly plant in Nigeria and Ghana to pioneer the assemblage of Computers, speakers and Casings from Completely-Knocked-Down components.

While speaking, Engr. Florence expressed her gratitude to the University Governing Council and also pledge more support for Nigerian students, saying they are welcome anytime for IT training and excursions.

She also encouraged youth to have a technology inclined mind in order to move the nation forward and be able to compete with their foreign counterparts, appealing to the government to wade into the ICT world by promoting African based product rather than the foreign ones in other to compete favourably in the Global market.

According to her, more jobs will be created if only local production and patronage can be embraced.
