CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Cairo, the capital city of Egypt that four police officers would beĀ  prosecuted following their alleged involvement in the death of 38 members of the Muslim Brotherhood last August.

It was disclosed that the victims suffocated to death after teargas was fired into the back of a polce van where they were being held.

Our source revealed that the prosecution ordered jail for senior officers for four days pending trial and released the three junior officers involved.

It would be recalled that the Muslim Brotherhood has accused Egyptian authorities of flagrant human rights abuses against the movement since the army toppled Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July following weeks of mass unrest over his rule.

The state denies the accusations and describes the Brotherhood as terrorists bent on destabilizing the Arab world's most populous country.
