Nine Inmates and Gunmen Dies During Shootout in Mexico Prison

MEXICO- Nine gang members, including unknown gunmen died during a shooting that occurred at the Iguala jail in Guerrero State, Mexico at the weekend.

According to the prison local authorities, six gunmen entered the jail posing as public officials delivering a prisoner, and once inside, they opened fire on a group of inmates, killing four of them

They then took aim at the guards on a security tower, but five of the gang died when the guards returned fire. One of the gunmen and a guard were injured in the gunfight.

Local authorities also added that the dead inmates were serving jail terms for drug trafficking and kidnapping.

The Mexican army has taken control of the prison.
