NIGERIA (Lagos)- Reports reaching the news desk of CEOAFRICA.com states that a fire has broken out at a sawmill market at Pako bus stop, along Ipaja road, Lagos.

Two fire trucks, with 50,000 litres of water each, from the state fire department are currently battling the inferno which began at 3.08 a.m. according to the National Emergency Management Agency.

In his reaction, the Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe, told journalists that the fire incident started at about 3.08 a.m and 11 lock-up shops out of about 150 shops in the market were destroyed by the inferno.

According to him, the shops destroyed contained planks, paints, chemicals, wood-cutting machines and other building materials, while it took men of the service about four hours to put out the fire.

“The fire spread faster due to the harmattan season.

“I advise members of the public to be careful with anything that can cause fire fast.

“The fire took us longer time to put out due to sawdust and chemicals in the market,’’ Fadipe said, adding that no death was recorded in all the fire incidents.
