Chrisland University lecturer, Ogochukwu Odeigah to speak at WHO webinar on “Health warnings labels of alcoholic beverages: opportunities for informed and healthier choices”

MONDAY- 27th September, 2021: Ogochukwu odeigah, a lecturer at the Department of psychology,Chrisland University, Nigeria will be one of the speakers at the forth coming World Health Organization WHO webinar series tagged ‘Health warnings labels of alcoholic beverages: opportunities for informed and healthier choices.

The webinar which is set to take place on Thursday 7th October, 2021 is aimed at exploring the health warnings and implications of alcohol, increase consumers’ awareness of the risk of it consumption and also seek ways and measures of checkmating the inconsistencies of current labelling practices also discussing possible roles of consumer associations and civil society to hold interested parties accountable

Distinguished speakers at the webinar will include Dasa Kokole of the Maastricht University Netherland,Paula Obrien Associate Professor of Melbourne Law School, Maria Neufeld consultant at the W.H.O, Emmanuel Scafato Director Italian National Institute of Health Italy and Emeritus Scientist,Institute for Mental Health policy Research University of Toronto Canada.

Dignitaries expected at the event are: Assistant Director-General, Healthier Population Division, World Health Organization Naoko Yamamoto, Director, Department of Health Promotion, World Health Organization Rudiger Krech, and Head Less Alcohol Unit, Department of Health Promotion, World Health Organization Juan Tello, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, the Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta Ogun State.

Nigeria is currently ranked 21st by the world population review body among countries with the highest alcohol consumption rate.
