Nigeria's D'Tigress beat World No. 5 France 67-65 in FIBA Women's qualifying tournament

Nigeria’s senior female basketball team, D’Tigress has defeated World No. 5 France in a 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup qualifier.

The Nigerian team came back from losing the first quarter to beat France 67-65 in a World Cup qualifying game on Friday, February 11, 2022. D'Tigress lost the first quarter 11 - 28 but took the second quarter 16 - 10.

Galatasaray’s Victoria Macaulay led the scoring for Nigeria with 19 points as the team led in 2 and 3 pointers 51%-44% and 35%-32% respectively.

Nigeria now occupies the second spot on the table with 3 points and a -12 game points.

D'Tigress will now face fellow African contingents Mali in their last group stage fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022. A win against Mali will automatically seal a spot for D'Tigress at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup in Australia later this year.
