CONVENTION: Senators deny endorsing Adamu as APC Chairman

The caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC at thee Senate has denied claims that it has endorsed former Governor Abdullahi Adamu for the position of the party’s chairman.

Adamu, also a senator is one of the three members of the upper chamber of National Assembly who have indicated interest in contesting for the position of APC national chairman in the March 26 national convention of the party in Abuja.

The two other members of the upper chamber contesting for the position are Senators Sani Musa and Tanko Al-Makura.

Report in the media had indicated that the Senate caucus had endorsed Adamu for the position of the

But the Chairman, Senate Committtee on Media and Public Affairs, Sen. Ajibola Basiru strongly denied the claim in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Monday.

He said, “I am not aware that the APC senate caucus has adopted any senator for the position of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

“I know that three senators are contesting and there was no where or occasion when we took any decision to adopt any particular candidate.

“I will be very happy if any of them emerges as the APC national chairman on Saturday.The emergence of any of the three senators would be a good omen to our institution.

“Senators Abdullahi Adamu, Sani Musa and Tanko Al-Makura are in the race,” he said.
