The Executive Director, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, Dr. Patrick Adebola, has embarked on apiculture to enhance the institute Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). He made this known to CEOAFRICA during a visit to the institute’s headquarters in Ibadan. In addition, a team of staff led by the Director (Cashew), Dr. O.S. Ibiremo, deployed 8 units of Kenya hive model into the experimental zones of the Institute in January, 2022. It was said that some hives that suffered defect were equally rehabilitated, which was in continuation of the exercise that yielded volumes of honey. Dr. Patrick Adebola said that at the moment, some of the hives that were deployed are fully colonized.

“The success registered in apiculture has been extended to farmers of the Institute’s mandate crops in order to enhance their income profile. Other team members are Dr. Ibe Osita, Mrs. O.B. Ibiremo, Mr. Lukeman Atoyebi and Mr. Osalaye Joseph.” He stated

Speaking on structural rebranding of the Institute, it was learnt that Dr. Patrick isn’t leaving any stones unturned in rebranding the Institute. He is giving the institute a global outlook to function as an international edifice as a sharp departure from the archaic structures that defaced the environment hitherto.
