The 20th Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) has fixed 15th – 19th August, 2022, for its Annual Conference. The conference which is scheduled to take place at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State is themed: Pharmacy Education, Research and Practice, Revisiting the Basics.
The conference with the slogan Ife 2022 is expected to play host to academic pharmacists and dignitaries across the globe. The Chief Host to the conference is the Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Adebayo Bamire; while Prof. Moses Akanmu, PSN Chairman, Osun State, is the Co host. Prof. (Mrs) M.O Afolabi, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, OAU is the Host; Emeritus Prof. F. A Ogunrona, Chairman, Opening Ceremony. Others include the Chief Guest of the Conference, President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, (PSN), Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh FPSN; Keynote Speaker, Prof. Chinedum Babalola, Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University; Dr Ezekiel Akinkunmi and Dr Adebanjo Adegbola, the National Chairman and the National Secretary, Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia.
First Lead Speaker for the Conference is Prof. Tiwalade Olugbade of the Pharmacy Department, OAU. He would be speaking on Governance, Government Policies, Law and Impacts on Pharmaceutical Education, Research and Practice. Second Lead Speaker, Prof. Yerima Musa is of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He is billed to speak on Pharmaceutical Research in a new Normal. The last but not the least is Prof. Ogbonna Okorie of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, University of Port Harcourt. Prof. Okorie would speak on Integration of New Technological Tools in Pharmacy Education.
The conference is programmed to be both physical and virtual modes for Participation which is at the discretion of participants. Participants for the conference are expected to pay registration fees of N10,000.00 for members; N15,00.00 for non members, N5000.00 for students, late registration is N20,000.00.
In a chat with Dr Ezekiel Akinkunmi, National Chairman of Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia told CEOAFRICA tha Dr Bamigboye Taiwo led team of the Local Organising Committee for the scientific conference is set to host a world class scientific conference as AU laureate, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, Vice Chancellor of Chrisland who is one of the leading female scientist in Africa is set to deliver her keynote speech at the historic scientific conference tagged “IFE 2022” . Akinkunmi stated.
