Al-Baker, who disclosed this while speaking with Newsmen said, the priority of the airway is to accommodate the mass flights that will be conveying fans from all over the World to Qatar.
The Country anticipates about 500 shuttle flights daily as well as hundreds of charter flights and private jets.
He said; “Actually no, we don’t have any new destinations,”
“Quite the contrary, we have reduced and withdrawn from 18 destinations in order to make space at Hamad international airport to bring fans.’
“Our priority is not Qatar Airways’ network but giving access to all countries participating and bringing in large numbers of passengers.”
The World Cup kicks off November 20 with about 1.2 million visitors expected from all over the World.
A total of 32 Nations are taking part in matches spread across eight stadiums, located within 40 kilometers of Central Doha.
Al-Baker further noted that the German airline Lufthansa is considering restarting operations along with Air France and KLM.
Qatar Airways COO, Badr Mohammad Al Meer, said hundreds of flights were scheduled to land daily for the tournament.
He said; “For shuttle flights there will be 500 a day, for charter flights the list has not yet been finalized.”
Al Meer stressed that fans staying in neighboring city Dubai, will also be flying in just for the matches.
