The Nasarawa Police command, on Saturday, confirmed the arrest of a lecturer at the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Dr Fred Ekpa Ayokhai and his Daughter, Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai for allegedly brutalizing a 20 years old student of the institution.
In a series of viral videos that emerged on the social media on Saturday, Ayokhai, who reportedly works at the History and International Relations department of the institution, was caught on camera with his children assaulting and stripping the lady, now identified as Blessing Mathias, naked.
It was reported that prior to being assaulted, Blessing had beaten the lecturer’s daughter, Emmanuella, for trying to snatch her boyfriend identified as IG.
Days after the fight, Emmanuella in the company of her father, his brother, Praise Shola and others attacked Blessing in retaliation.
She was driven to an unknown location as captured in a viral video and Ayokhai used scissors to cut off her clothes.
Commenting on the development, the Nasarawa State Police Command, via its official Twitter page, said;
“Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case.’’
“It is gratifying to state that, two suspects namely: Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, an associate professor with the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia and one Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle belonging to Dr Fred which was used in conveying the victim to a location along Kwandere road, Lafia where she was assaulted has been recovered. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at large”.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai and the victim had a misunderstanding over a man named IG. The victim accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulting her. In retaliation, Emmanuela mobilized her family, went after the victim, and got her assaulted as well”
