The South West chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Makunjola Ogundipe has said that the zone remains better off under the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Ogundipe said this in Lagos yesterday at the launch the Goodluck Lagos Grasroot Project (GLGP) an initiative of   Forum PDP Local Government Area chairmen in Lagos state to support the re-election of President Jonathan.

The South West PDP leader said the South West in the recent past produced the president of the country, but  has  nothing much to show for it,  pointing out that not even an attempt was   made to fix the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which is the most strategic road in the country.  According to him, the present administration in the country has done so much to move the nation forward   through its transformation agenda, hence the need to re-elect the President in next year’s general election.

He said: “Jonathan has done better than any president in the contemporary history of Nigeria. He does not take irrational decisions which are inhuman. We used to have our own man (as president). I am afraid the Lagos- Ibadan   and Apapa roads were not rehabilitated, not to talk of been dualized. The country is improving more than it was twelve years ago.”

Ogundipe called on PDP chieftains in the region to work hard to ensure the victory of President Jonathan and   all the party’s candidates in the next year’s election, noting that the people of Lagos State are waiting for the party to give them good governance.

While he maintained that PDP will retire the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu from politics next year, he said “everyone is rooting for PDP. Tinubu cannot do anything. By the time we finish with him in 2015 election that will be the end of his political career.  By this time around, we must not allow any unnecessary sentiment.”

Spokesman of the Forum of PDP LGA chairmen, Alhaji Bolaji Onibudo explained that they are determined to work assiduously to ensure President Jonathan is re-elected in the 2015 polls, because the President in the last four years has laid a solid foundation for the country.

He said “that is why PDP workers throughout Lagos State will be working 24/7 between now and the election to ensure the people make their voices heard.”
