The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reached agreement with European clubs to release Super Eagles players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations latest January 1, 2024.
The Super Eagles will open camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates same day for the competition.
Head coach, Jose Peseiro has reportedly submitted a 40-man provisional list to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The list is expected to be pruned down to 27 latest January 3, 2024.
European clubs have often been reluctant to release players in good time for the AFCON because it is often played in the middle of their leagues.
CEOAFRICA gathered that the NFF has moved to avoid discord with the clubs by reaching agreement on time for the release of players for the tournament.
The Super Eagles will engage in a three-nation tournament in Abu Dhabi as part of their preparation for the AFCON.
Burkinaso Faso and Democratic Republic of Congo are the teams that will take part in the tourney.
Jose Peseiro’s side will open their campaign at the AFCON 2023 finals against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
