Contrary to his claim that he resigned from the Rivers State Executive Council due to the defection of Governor Rotimi Amaechi to the All Progressives Congress (APC), it has been revealed that erstwhile Commissioner for Housing in Rivers State, Marshal Uwom, was forced to resign due to monumental fraud discovered in his ministry.

Marshal Uwom, had made his resignation public on Monday claiming his action followed the decision of the governor, Rotimi Amaechi to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Uwom,“Series of recent developments, especially the decision of my boss, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),for the All Progressives Congress, formed my decision to leave the cabinet.

“I am a man that fears God and I am also principled too. I belong to the PDP and cannot continue to remain in the cabinet when my principal has left to join another party,” he said.

Investigation revealed that the ex-commissioner was forced to resign after series of corrupt acts in the ministry to which he had failed to defend whenever he was called upon to do so by the Governor.

“The ex-commissioner is a very corrupt cabinet member, and each time he is asked to defend himself, he usually has nothing to say. The situation made the Governor ask him to tender a letter of resignation which he suddenly turned around to make it look like he is resigning on principle,” sources from inside the state executive council disclosed that .Dr. Tammy was also alleged to have been involved in the corrupt act and has been sacked since with no noise from him.

Investigation revealed that with the turn of events which made the sacked Commissioner behaving like a hero, pressure is mounting on Governor Amaechi to involved the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the matter with a view to getting Uwom pay for his sins.
